Seeking a Co-President of the PTO
Calling ALL PARENTS—Whittier PTO CO-PRESIDENT SOUGHT FOR 2019-2021 term. As we prepare to plan for the next school year, we would like to invite all parents interested in becoming PTO Co-President to express their interest from now until March 1st. Our fearless leader Brigitte Brostrom will be finishing her two-year term at the end of the school year. If we have multiple interested candidates, we will hold an election. All interested parents, please email Co-President Sofia Villafuerte at firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information: Name and an answer to the following question: How do you hope to represent Whittier in the PTO leadership?
Role description: As Junior PTO Co-President, you would support the Senior Co-President in the following and other items that come up: running monthly PTO meetings, creating the agenda, attending PTO Council meetings (once a month) and otherwise network with other PTOs, supporting a positive school climate, supporting PTO committees in their functions, recruiting for volunteer vacancies, serving as a liaison between the PTO and school teachers and administration, writing the Greenleaf newsletter monthly.
The Green Team Seeks Volunteers for the Following Projects:
Earth Day Lead: Not a year long commitment – planning out events for April’s Earth Day; can be as involved as you want. Work with a committee to get the event planned.
Recycling Manager: Self-paced commitment – once every few weeks, pop into the vestibule and see what recycled items need to be redistributed, managed to Art, Office Depot, etc. Set up and advertise, collect and recycle holiday lights from end of November through January.
Zero Waste Lead: Check in with the leaders of each event i.e. Fun Run, Coffee Meet Ups, Teacher Dinners, and aid in making the event zero waste.
Fall Thatcher Woods Hike Lead: Advertise in newsletter a meet-up at Thatcher Woods for a group hike. Be willing to attend the hike and welcome attendees.
