Lou Malnati’s Fundraiser TONIGHT!
On Tuesday, March 19, from 11 AM to 11 PM, you can help raise funds for Whittier PTO just by getting your lunch or dinner from Lou Malnati’s in Oak Park. 20% of your food sales from dine-in, carryout, or delivery will go to Whittier PTO – just be sure to mention the Whittier Fundraiser when you order, and check to make sure your receipt says “FUNDRAISER.” More information and instructions can be found on this flyer.
Volunteers Needed for the Spring Session of WISE!
After you sign your child up for a WISE class, please consider volunteering! The Spring 2019 session of WISE starts on Monday, April 1st and runs through Thursday, May 30th. We need your help to fill 20 weekly volunteer slots for the program to run (3 attendance and 2 dismissal volunteers for each day of WISE.) The signup can be found here: http://signup.com/go/aNsRrUp
Attendance volunteers will receive $50 off one class, to be given as a refund after registration ends. Thanks for your continued support of WISE! This program could not run without our volunteers!
Spring Silent Auction Continues until April 10
The Spring Silent Auction is still going! If you did not get a chance to sign up for any of the Silent Auction parties/events at the Fun Fair, don’t dismay, there is still time! Don’t delay, there are limited spaces available. You can sign up directly in this google doc until April 10th or 1 week before the event (whichever comes first). Joey FineRhyme Assembly on Thursday, March 21st
Funded by a grant co-authored by members of the School Green Teams Collaborative (Oak Park and River Forest), Joey FineRhyme, environmental raptivist, will perform 27 assemblies in 12 schools throughout Oak Park and River Forest. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be educated about climate change and inspired to take action through high-energy, STEAM-based performances featuring a pedal-powered sound system. The School Green Teams Collaborative is a unique collaboration of green team leaders from parochial, private, and public schools who band together to share ideas, resources, and now efforts to seek out sources of funding for environmental education that entertains and inspires. Thanks to these active volunteers, more than 7,000 local kids will learn how they can effect positive environmental change and become future sustainability leaders. One Book One School Coming Soon!
We are so excited to kick off our One Book One School in a few weeks! Every year one secret surprise, wonderful book is chosen to bring the school community together– a book for Whittier students K-5 to read and enjoy through thoughtful discussions and fun activities. This year’s book will be announced on April 10 — stay tuned! Every student will receive a copy of the book, provided by Whittier PTO. Attention Sustainability-Minded Volunteers!
Downtown OP is in need of people to monitor the recycling, compost, and landfill waste stations for Thursday Night Out events. Each station will have 2 to 3 people working each night from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Workers would get a free coupon book for helping keep their community green.
